The all-new S-Works Turbo RapidAir is the ultimate racing tire. It is the most efficient, lightest, most durable and best handling tubeless tire we have ever developed. Our S-Works Turbo version with RapidAir broke the WorldTour's dependence on tubular tires and all it took was stage wins and green jerseys at the Tour de France and victories in other classics. It was definitely an effort to get more speed and durability from our fastest tubeless tire for everyday racing.
We knew that with the design of the RapidAir we had an incredibly fast foundation. Traditional three-ply casings accumulate a lot of material under the tread, where it increases rolling resistance. The RapidAir carcass only has two layers that overlap on the sides. This means that the RapidAir not only rolls faster, it also has better grip because the surface adapts better to the contact area.
The use of our new rubber compound GRIPTON® T2 significantly improves this remarkable performance. It is the fastest and most efficient blend we have ever developed. We have combined them with the legendary grip of GRIPTON® T5 on the shoulders. With these two different compounds, a 26mm set of Rapid 2BR can save two watts of rolling resistance and increase the mileage of a set by around 1000km. Did we mention that the RapidAir is also lighter? A 26 mm tire weighs just 230 g.
As a tubeless tire, the RapidAir has the leave-your-spare-tire-at-home function when using RapidAir sealant. But that's not all. The new BlackBelt puncture protection with Kevlar sits directly under the tread and has 12% more puncture protection than the previous version. It's lighter and more flexible, making your ride even smoother.
The new S-Works Turbo RapidAir is compatible with hook rims and hookless rims, giving you the ability to run a wider range of wheels and pressures. Our new tire beads with Zylon exceed hookless rim burst pressure standards with an incredible 200% value. This means you can take on all curves with confidence. Win-win situation!
