History
Founded by Eduardo Bianchi in the previous century more precisely in 1885 the company began in a small street in Milan the Via Nirone to which Bianchi has also dedicated a bike. Bianchi has survived 2 world wars and for more than a hundred years has stood for quality at its best.
The bikes from Italy have long been known for the iconic Celeste color. Eduardo mixed them together from leftover stock to set them apart from the competitor's bikes. The Celeste hue changes ever so slightly but remains one of the Italians' main distinguishing features. Bianchi has been a fixture in cycling for years with well-known riders such as Fausto Coppi and Marco Pantani.
The company is constantly bringing innovations to the market such as the Countervail technology in 2013. They use a carbon fiber patent that was developed for NASA. Countervail technology reduces vibrations by up to 80%. You can also enjoy this groundbreaking development on the Specialissima, for more fun on your rides.
⚙️ Components and Equipment
You get the Bianchi Specialissima with excellent components from several manufacturers
For the gear groups Bianchi relies on the three most famous manufactures. These are Campagnolo, SRAM and Shimano. Thus nothing stands in the way of the basic framework for excellent equipment. Other renowned suppliers include Fulcrum Racing, Vittoria and Pirelli.
For the cockpit the in-house Reparto Corse concept is used in collaboration with FSA. They draw on the experience of riders whose ideas are incorporated directly into the development process. The end products are innovative designs some of which are changing cycling.
Derailleur groups
- For the rear derailleur, shift lever or front derailleur, you have many options. Bianchi uses the Shimano Ultegra Di2 or Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 for this purpose. Two other excellent gear groups are the Campagnolo Super Record EPS and SRAM Red eTap AXS. The Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 is a high-end product but you also get a very good performance with the Shimano Ultegra Di2. They are like the Campagnolo Super Record EPS and SRAM Red eTap AXS electronic groupsets.
- The differences between the 3 market leaders are minimal and are often up to personal preference. Campagnolo is predominantly found on road bikes and their products are used by quite a few premium manufacturers.
Brakes
- To guarantee you the best possible braking performance Bianchi uses disc brakes on the Specialissima. Disc brakes have more weight than rim brakes but are far superior in braking performance. They can be dosed better and you need less force during the braking process. In addition they are constantly getting lighter and more efficient. Especially in adverse weather conditions such as mud and rain you can fully rely on disc brakes. A brake disc does not cause wear on the rims and does not drag even if the rim is bent.
Saddle
- The Fizik Antares R1 is a lightweight road bike saddle with improved weight distribution. Fizik technical savvy comes into play such as a carbon double shell. The Fizik Antares R1 is a combination of light weight and stability with a good fit. It has sufficient flexibility in the thigh area for comfortable pedaling.
Seatpost
- For the seatpost Bianch relies on the Reparto Corse by FSA K-Force Light. It features UD Weave Carbon with diam. 31.8 mm as well as a drop of 125 mm.
Handlebar & Stem
- The Italians like to use the in-house products here which were created in collaboration with FSA. The Reparto Corse stem by FSA NS ACR is connected to the Reparto Corse Compact handlebar. Another handlebar is the FSA K-Force Carbon.
Wheels
- The wheelset used is the Fulcrum Racing 400 Disc Brake, 622x19c, 2 Way Fit Tubeless Ready. It is flexible to use and has good aerodynamics. Team Cofidis uses the Fulcrum wheels in its training sessions. To ride them without a tube Fulcrum attaches the tubeless tape right from the factory and provides the associated valves. Laser-etched graphics adds a stylish look.
Tires
- The pros in the peloton use the Vittoria Corsa Graphene 2.0 with stints in the biggest tours and competitions. Among them are the Tour de France, World Championships or the Olympic Games.
- The Pirelli P Zero™ Race is a road bike tire that can cope in quite a few environments. You can use it for racing or for training. The TechBelt road casing ensures that the tire is less prone to punctures. The SmartEVO compound on the other hand gives the necessary grip on the asphalt to get through the corners smoothly and quickly.
Additional equipment
- Pedals as with most premium manufacturers are not included in the basic equipment of the Specialissima. It therefore makes sense to add them to your shopping cart. A water bottle and sensible clothing are never wrong. To optimize your training a bike computer helps you to analyze your riding stats.

🎯 Summary
Have I already found the right road bike with the Bianchi Specialissima
If you are not sure whether the Specialissima is the right road bike Bianchi has other bikes in its range. Other road bikes in the range are the Bianchi Oltre bikes such as the Bianchi Oltre XR4 or Oltre Pro. In addition you have the Bianchi Sprint and Bianchi Duel to choose from.
The Infinito, Infinito XE and Via Nirone 7 are available as endurance road bikes. With an endurance racing bike comfort is a priority to enjoy long distances with pleasure. The Via Nirone 7 is also available as a gravel bike variant. Other bikes for gravel are the Impulso, Impulso Pro or Arcadex. For cyclocrossers Bianchi has the Zolder Pro in its range and for time trial and triathlon the Aquila.
If you prefer to ride an MTB the Bianchi cross-country mountain bikes are an option. They are available as hardtail MTB and full suspension MTB. With the Methanol CV FS you have a comfortable and powerful Fully MTB at hand. The Methanol CV RS, Nitron, Magma and Duel are excellent hardtail bikes that are just as fun to ride. With a cross-country MTB you have less suspension travel than say an enduro or downhill bike. The smaller the travel is set in the suspension the easier you manage uphill passages. With high suspension travel you are well equipped when you shred the trails quickly.
E-bikes from Bianchi are available in several categories. Starting with E-race bikes, over E-gravel to E-MTB versions. Other e-bikes are available as e-tourers and e-urban bikes. The E-Omnia series is the new generation of electric bikes and is available as MTB, urban and touring bikes.
If the delivery time for a new bike is too long for you look for a used bike. We at buycycle are happy to advise you on brands and models to make sure you get a suitable bike.
